Boasting an
impressive career spanning 40 years, Iain is one of the most experienced skippers on the island. Having
sailed all over the world, Iain is a true globetrotter who has conquered many bodies of water including a
crossing of the great Atlantic! As many do, Iain decided to settle down on Skye and, over the past 30 years,
has amassed a wide knowledge and understanding of the wildlife and history of the island. As a keen
photographer, Iain has organised and operated many photography focused trips and knows exactly how to make
your trip picture perfect!
Warren came to Skye about 30 years ago, becoming a vastly experienced Skipper through his
time spent fish farming out of Sconser, about 11 miles south of Portree. Since coming to work with Stardust,
Warren has amassed an excellent knowledge base of the local scenery and wildlife, and will be more than
happy to help answer any questions you have when you are aboard.
Coll has been interested in the sea ever since he was young, gaining plenty of sea
experience at the local sailing club from a very young age. Now a fully qualified powerboat Skipper, as well
as a student naval architect, the maritime life comes naturally to this young, enthusiastic Skye local, with
a passion for wildlife to boot.
Hailing originally from Cumbria, David moved to Skye around 50 years ago. In his time here,
David has skippered fishing boats, cruises as part of his own business all around the West Coast of
Scotland, mainly on his ocean going sailing ketch, as well as as a skipper for other companies. He is a
qualified RYA Yachtmaster Ocean Instructor, under power or sail, and his vast experience has taught many a
future skipper. In addition to this, David also holds a degree in Marine Biology, which comes in rather
handy when delving into the the detail of some of the aquatic life we encounter on our trips, as well as
possessing excellent knowledge of the local area and its geology! You’ll be sure to learn a thing or two
from this scurvy sea dog!
